When I pulled up Roblox’s Top Playing Now chart this week, Steal An Egg was still sitting at number one (we covered that last week), but right behind it was a game I’ll admit I’d been sleeping on: Ride A Pet. We’re talking around 234,000 people playing at once, which puts it ahead of Brookhaven, Blox Fruits, and RIVALS. On top of that it’s got a 96.9% like ratio from nearly 280,000 votes, and it’s pulled in over 180 million visits since it came out in April. That’s no fluke. So I dug in to figure out whether it’s actually good or just riding the egg-sim wave. Here’s what I found.
So What Is Ride A Pet?
It’s an egg-hunting tycoon where your pet is also your car. The developer group behind it is called “this game is gud” (yes, really), and the official description pretty much sums it up in three lines: find eggs around the map, hatch rarer and faster pets so you can reach rarer eggs, and mutate your pets to go even faster. The twist compared to every other pet sim on Roblox is that you don’t just collect pets, you actually ride them. Your best pet is your mount, and its speed decides how far you can get across the map, which decides which eggs you can reach, which decides how good your next pet is. It’s a really clean feedback loop, and in my opinion that’s the whole reason it works.
Servers are tiny, and that matters. Each server only holds 6 players, so it feels a lot more personal than the chaotic 50-player lobbies you get in other simulators. It also means that when a rare egg spawns, you know exactly who you’re racing.
How Do You Actually Play?
The core loop is find, carry, hatch, ride, repeat. You head out from your ranch, track down an egg, pick it up, and then there’s a carry timer, so you’ve got to haul it back to your plot before it breaks. Once it’s home you let it grow, press E to hatch it, and you’ve got a new pet. Put the best one on your ranch to make passive cash, and ride your fastest one to go hunting. Trust me on this: rarer eggs spawn further from the hub, so your mount’s speed is everything.
There are 22 standard eggs across seven rarity tiers. They run from Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic up to Divine and Ethereal. The plain White Egg is 1x luck, the Ice Egg hits 3,000, the Golden Egg sits at 30,000, the Soul Egg jumps to 7 million, and at the very top you’ve got the Blackhole Egg at 100 billion and the Cherub Egg at a ridiculous 1 trillion luck. The numbers get silly fast, and honestly that’s half the fun.
Three stalls near your ranch keep things moving. The Food Stall sells Grass for $10 a serving to level up your pets. The Gears Stall sells Radars, and the $50 Advanced Radar is a must-buy because it points you at hidden eggs. The Track Stall shows you which eggs are currently out in the world, so you’re not wandering around a cleared zone like a lost tourist.
Mutations, Weather, and Rebirths
Mutations come from weather, and they’re a huge deal. There are eight of them: Shocked and Gold (2x), Volted and Diamond (3x), Rage (4x), Void and Rainbow (10x), and the big one, Eternal at 100x. When a weather event rolls through, eggs on the map, eggs in your pen, and even the pet you’re riding can catch a mutation. A mutation boosts your pet’s speed, its sale value, and how much money it makes. The cool part is you only ever trade up, never down. If your Shocked pet gets hit during a Rage storm, it becomes a Rage pet. I think Rage is the sweet spot for most players, since it’s actually reachable and still gives you a solid 4x across the board.
Rebirths are where the long-term grind lives. There are 7 rebirths in total, with cash requirements that climb from $1 million all the way to $50 quadrillion, and each one also needs a specific pet. You lose your cash every time, but you get a permanent +1x money multiplier and +1 pet slot, taking your ranch from 5 slots up to 12. Where it gets brutal is the late game. The Dragon has something like a 1 in 5 quintillion hatch chance, so you really do need those rebirth multipliers stacked before you go chasing it. Meanwhile the Kitsune is the fastest pet in the game at 1 billion base speed. So the smart play is to ride the Kitsune and park the Dragon on your ranch to earn.
What’s New Right Now
The Volcanic Update just dropped on September 26, and it’s a big one. Update 2 adds Volcano Island and the new Volcanic Egg, an Ethereal egg with 2.5 trillion hatch luck, which makes it the luckiest egg in the game. It only spawns deep inside the volcano in the Dragon’s Lair, and it’s guarded by a hostile dragon. You need a flying pet like the Phoenix or the brand-new Griffin just to reach the entrance, and once you grab the egg you’ve got 20 seconds to escape the dragon and another 40 seconds to get it home. That’s the first time the game has had a real “heist” moment, and in my opinion it’s exactly the kind of content it needed.
Anything I Don’t Love?
The number inflation is getting out of hand. When you’re going from $1 million to $50 quadrillion over seven rebirths, the numbers stop meaning much. It’s the same trap Pet Simulator fell into. It’s also a grind-heavy game at heart, and some of those late-game hatch odds are more lottery than skill. I also couldn’t find any verified active codes right now, so be careful with those “free code” videos. And since other players can grab an egg before you get to it, the 6-player servers can turn sweaty fast when a rare egg gets announced.
Should You Play Ride A Pet Right Now?
Yeah, I think you should, especially this week with the Volcanic Update fresh. What sets Ride A Pet apart from the other hundred egg sims is that your progress feels physical. Every upgrade makes you visibly faster, opens up more of the map, and gets you to better eggs. That “one more run” feeling hits hard. If you loved Steal An Egg but wanted something a little less chaotic, or Pet Simulator 99 but with more actual movement, this is right up your alley. Just go in knowing it’s a long grind, and don’t blow your mutations on a Wolf you’re going to replace in ten minutes. Save them for the pets that matter.
